A Balance That Works

Hybrid working has definitely changed how we work, and flexibility is important. Alongside this great feeling of freedom is a growing appreciation for the days spent in an office — sometimes in a shared workspace, in exciting city locations, for today, this means London.

I find these days often feel sharper, faster, and more productive.

I leave the office feeling like something meaningful has happened.

For many of us, working from home became the norm almost overnight. At first, it felt like a huge win — no commute, more flexibility, and the comfort of your own space.

But as time has gone on, many people like me have discovered that something important was missing: the energy of being around other people.

The Energy of Being Around People

Working from home can be productive, but it can also feel isolating.

A shared workspace changes that immediately. You’re surrounded by people who are solving problems, having meetings, and making things happen. That environment creates a subtle but powerful sense of momentum.

Even if everyone is working on completely different things, there’s an energy that naturally lifts your own productivity.

Conversations That Spark Opportunities

One of the unexpected benefits of shared workspaces is the conversations that happen organically.

A quick chat over coffee might introduce you to someone in a completely different industry. A passing conversation might spark a new idea, collaboration, or opportunity.

These interactions are something you simply don’t get when working alone at home.

The Best of Both Worlds

For many people, a mix of home working with either office or shared workspaces strike the perfect balance.

You get the independence and flexibility that remote working offers, but with the energy, community, and structure of an office environment.

You can focus when you need to, collaborate when you want to, and step away from the isolation that sometimes comes with working from home.

Work Should Feel Energising

Work isn’t just about completing tasks — it’s about ideas, collaboration, and feeling part of something bigger.

Shared workspaces remind us that the environment we work in matters. Being around other motivated people, in a space designed for productivity, can completely change how the workday feels.

Sometimes, all it takes to rediscover the enjoyment of work is simply working somewhere that feels alive, and for me, today, London feels alive.
